This tube is often paired with the ULIP 8.5x3" tyre which adopts an "Urban Roadrunner" hybrid tread pattern. The tube is not very "fat" but can be fitted in larger width tyres such as 8.5x3 inch wide tyres quite well. While the ULIP presents "skinny" and has smaller 134mm designation, the ULIP thickness under inflation provides excellent resilience in 8.5x3 tyres. This tube is not to be confused with the ULIP 8.5x2" (50-156) tube, which is designed for 6.1" rims (such as 50/75-6.1 and 8.5x2" M365 tyres).
Typical weight 136g (heavy). These are an "ultra thickened" variant, which are thicker and more resilient than all other 8.5x2 tubes produced, further reducing likelihood of pinch punctures. (AKA "Thorn Proof").
ULIP brand.
Notes:
Although the ULIP tube has a great reputation amongst VSETT series owners for the 10x3 VSETT 10+, eSN does not recommend this tube for use in VSETT 9/9+ motor hub wheels due to the shape of the valve. The length of valve between tube and bend, combined with the 60 degree tilt and the design of the motor hub / rim doesn't provide a favourable cavity for appropriate placement of valve between rim and motor housing, which results in tube not fitting flush on the wall of the rim near the valve. For VSETT motor hub wheels use 90 degree tilt valves such as the VSETT factory HOTA tube, the slightly longer valve CST 8.5x2.00-5.5 or AoXin 8.5x3.0 60mm long valve. They all have a favourable location of bend in valve shape which is approximately 21mm from the tube. The CST is used by the Australian VSETT distributor, Ride Electric.
eScootNow stocks alternative 90 degree bend options:
This tube has a silver coloured stem with moulded stem hole grommet. Earlier versions had a brass coloured valve with more true 90 degree angle. Most of the original marketing materials including seller photographs on AliExpress, eBay and Amazon show the older brass coloured images. The last two product images (white background) show the older, discontinued brass coloured valve version.
