The Zoom XTECH HB-100 is a 2-Piston Semi-Hydraulic brake calliper that is stock on Kaabo Mantis 10 Duo (Dual) models.
Adopts a hydraulic mechanism to engage the pistons, with the hydraulics activated by a traditional cable/mechanical brake line. This design provides better power and modulation over traditional all-mechanical cable brake systems, but introduces more potential points of failure that impact service life over the longer term.
Calliper is Left orientation. Orientation defines the location of the cable entry as you look at the outer side of the calliper. A calliper with left orientation, sitting on top of swing arm will suit rear left hand side of scooter & front right hand side. It will also suit front left hand side if located vertically "behind the fork".
Includes:
Factory fitted pads, organic resin semi-metal.
Four M6 18mm socket head screws with washers: two attach the calliper to bracket, the other two attach bracket to swing arm plate which typically isn't removed to replace calliper.
an IS Mount Bracket being either F-160 R-140 or F-180 R-160. If a specific type is required include comment at checkout. In most instances existing mounts are used, on Mantis both front and rear are F-160 R-140. Usually the rear calliper is provided with an F-180 R-160.
Supplied as Kaabo Factory Spare.
Notes:
Supplied in black colour. Callipers are produced in other colours, such as Red, Blue, Purple and Rainbow.
Typically required to replace callipers that have reached end of life, often accelerated due to exposure to dust, dirt and debris. These callipers typically fail whereby the pistons will not compress and/or there are signs of hydraulic fluid leak. If there is no leak you can attempt to top up the Mineral Oil via the "bleed hole" however more often than not this does not restore operation.
This calliper is factory fitted on the mid-range models of Mantis.
The entry level Mantis models such as the Mantis 10 Lite (later year model single motor) use a relatively lightweight Zoom calliper that adopts a round brake pad, show below on the right. For those models, you can retrofit this calliper (shown on left) or other alternatives such as a left variant of the reliable VDM-10 calliper:
