Well suited for 72v systems to withstand peaks to 90v when fully charged and under regenerative braking. This is a popular alternative to replace factory MiniMotors buck converters that can fail under these conditions (and damage lights etc on the 12v output circuit).
Dimensions: 22mm * 60mm * 66mm @ 102 grams with aluminium heatsink housing.
Nameplate input: 30V to 90V DC
Nameplate output: 12V 3A (36w)
Conversion efficiency: >93%
No-load current loss: <100mA
Waterproof rating: IP68
Working temperature: -40 to 40 degrees, to 80 degrees on lower current load or additional heatsinking.
Protection: Over-current / Short-circuit / input reverse polarity protection.
Note: This heatsink design on this product supports excellent heat dissipation. eScootNow also stock a smaller form factor buck converter capable of 10A (120w) output in PVC enclosed housing.
eScootNow hobbyist tips on Buck Converters:
Remember with wide voltage input Buck Converters, ensure you accommodate circumstances that would otherwise deplete battery to damaging reserve levels. I typically run a relay that takes input off the controller's light switch output wire so that the buck converter is isolated through the relay's output when powered off.
It is best practice to keep the regulated circuit (secondary/output) of the Buck Converter isolated from the native DC circuit of your scooter. Do not bridge the two. This may also apply to the -ve of the regulated circuit, i'm yet to investigate that.
