eScootNow makes a few slots available to support retail members of the public with servicing, repairs or maintenance of eScooters. You will note the eScootNow Google Business entry has category of Electrical engineer in Seven Hills. We are not a retail store or service centre. We are a side hustle, "behind the scenes" enabling mobility in our region (Australia).
That same effort maintains inventory and order fulfilment. It is key to ensuring core eScooter components are accessible - this is our core business, enabling mobility.
90% of what we do is supply chain management of eScooter spare parts through the Store Product Catalogue (online store) and masterclass fulfilment. We supporting owners who maintain their personally owned eScooter and retail service providers who undertake electronic and mechanical engineering throughout Australia. This includes:
Smaller service providers and those in parallel verticals such as bicycle, motorbike, vehicle tyre stores and auto auto electricians.
Collaborative arrangements, such as whereby customer source eScootNow products for use by other service providers (such as tyres for fitting and spares for repairs).
eScootNow also provides product-related services of eScootNow products, including Factory Spares from leading manufacturers such as Kaabo and NAMI Electric.
By arrangement, the "The Labs" at eScootNow undertakes:
Electrical and mechanical engineering.
Appraisals / assessments / consulting.
Opinions, troubleshooting / diagnosis, any level of design thought.
Helping people with their problems.
Knowledge transfer and skilling.
The Labs is the eScootNow residential workshop where majority of the store inventory resides. Workshop slots are limited and need be booked in advance. Slots are typically only available during eScootNow business hours, listed on the eScootNow Google Business entry. Bookings are required to reserve "The Labs" as the area is purposed for order fulfilment, product development / R&D and the occasional workshop click-and-collect interaction and it is a sanitised environment. Customers are expected to present with the scooter in a clean condition (no dirt).
Booking of "The Labs" eScootNow workshop services can be made after you have reached out for triage, estimation and schedule availability. This is best done verbally or via email (see section "Need get in touch" at the bottom of the eScootNow home page). Once you have made arrangements, add the desired quantity of eScootNow Workshop Services at "The Labs" - 15 Minute Slot(s) that you require to bag, and checking out with "workshop click-and collect". Choose the appropriate starting time for the slot from the calendar then make payment to complete your order.
Services need not be undertaken in the workshop. Much of our work is undertaken via a telephone consultation (talking through things over the phone). Not everyone has access to local, skilled eScooter engineers, especially in regional areas. Non-workshop services can be provided most weekday evenings or weekends as per trade hours published on the eScootNow Google Business entry,
Often an outward referral will be made to another service providers. This considers geographic convenience, logistics, capability/expertise and reputation, smaller operators in industry and bicycle, motorbike, vehicle tyre stores and auto electricians.
The Labs specialises in 1:1 interactions to support owners maintain their personally owned scooter(s). This is typically "while you wait", while you "watch and learn" or "while you return". Scooters are not "booked in and left with us". While we have NRMA Business insurance for product and professional indemnity, we do not insure customer owned assets, they are not insured for loss, and they are an unknowing quantity with regard to fire risk, so they do not stay on premises.
Customers seeking non-specialist engineering, such as general consumer / retail eScooter services like "puncture repairs" are best to engage one of the various Electric motor scooter dealers, although there are some exceptions made, such as when the matter is priority, or when the owner "cannot wait 2+ weeks" or has had it elsewhere without progression that doesn't meet expectations and alternative arrangements need be made.
Most of eSN services are specialist, "3rd level", such as:
Referrals of speciality requiring some capability and/or capacity. For example, an out-of-warranty make that needs a spare stocked in local inventory by eScootNow.
Second opinions and further efforts. For example where some expertise is required for a specific make/model or type of issue which could be a common, known problem (or otherwise).
Fitting of eSN signature original products such as GPS trackers, and aftermarket spares by eScootNow Labs (such as Kaabo aftermarket hinge and suspension kits).
Services not typically offered at lower support tiers, such as customisation / projects / consulting.
eSN does not provide fixed price servicing, all work is time and materials. A well maintained scooter that is a quality make/model will generally require less effort to service than one that has been neglected, each scooter is different, they have their own unique complications. Fixed price just means shortcuts will be taken if the work requires more effort, or you will be paying for unutilised effort if the scooter was well maintained.
eSN will generally not work on entry-level consumer scooters (e.g. Segway Ninebot, Xiaomi, and lesser known brands), although there are exceptions depending on the matter. These are commodity consumer products, they are very reliable when within warranty with low maintenance. The reality with most of these investments when out of warranty is that they are often not economically productive to repair locally. When in warranty and unable to be repaired in-country, Segway Ninebot participate in a refurbishment arrangement where refurbishment is undertaken offshore. They are periodically remarketed as and available from sellers such as AI Ecosystem (Perth) or PCByte and these offerings often represent better value than undertaking repair. eScootNow generally considers this class of scooter is considered "end-of-life" when outside warranty when batteries have reached usable life. It is typically best to dispose of of the unit rather than invest in "battery repairs" and often undertaking swap-out of components is not cost effective. There are genuine and copy systems, the two are not compatible. There are also known near-fatal issues, such as when owners "hack" them to generate more power or top speed beyond their intended design, resulting in electrical fusion due to stress from regenerative braking on our steep Brisbane Hills. These factors can complicate repair.
