This is a well regarded tyre. Runs higher pressure (50 vs 45PSI) and has higher load rating (75kgs vs 65kgs) than Tuovt / HOTA tyres. The tread pattern also helps puncture resilience. Typically paired with a ULIP 8½x2" tube [HP-01]. eSN recommends the AoXin 8.5x3.0 60mm long valve tube in motor hub wheels.
The tubeless and rotational designation markings on sidewall nameplate are only on one side. ULIP logo is on the other side (now shown).
Tyre is tubeless and can be fitted in tubed operation (with tube). Typically most models of this hub size are split rims.
ULIP transitioned from HP-1003 to HP-1003B late 2024, which is 134mm/203mm variant shown below on right. This new variant offers better compatibility and is more aligned to the Tuovt tyre. Note the red/yellow lines are not indicative of a B designation. Martin Baláž explains in Zane Richter's post in VSETT Scooters Riders Group. Zane also shares experience of the ULIP in VSETT 9+.
ULIP specialises in aftermarkets, their products are rarely factory fitted as part of eScooter production. As such, you rarely see ULIP products as spare parts offered from eScooter brand dealers. They are commonly sourced offshore from AliExpress, eBay and Amazon.
Supplementary make/model notes from the Tuovt tyre page:
TUOVT has been the VSETT and Zero factory tyre since late 2021. Models prior to this were factory fitted with HOTA 8.5x3 (A-3051) which presents similar in tread pattern and of similar 65kgs load rating but are slightly lighter at 414 grams. In addition to being heavier, the TUOVT offers some additional textured tread.
Most T8 models (such as Zero 8 & Bexly 8) and select T9 models (such as early Zero 9) were factory fitted with a narrower Zero Branded HOTA 8½x2 tyre [A-3051] on front. T8 rear is 200x60 solid. The front 8½x2 tyre can be upgraded to 8.5x3 in Zero 8 and Zero 9 models (e.g. FalconPEV). MACURY Store, an AliExpress seller states their TUOVT and HOTA products will not fit Zero 8 and Zero 9, however this is likely due to the bundled tubes having inappropriate bend/shape. The Zero 8 Pro runs totally different tyres.
T8-DDM such as Zero 8X is not supported as they run an 200x90 solid.
VSETT 8+ is not supported as they adopt 200x60 solid rear typically also on front (older models may be pneumatic front).
Keep tubes inflated at the nameplate 50PSI. Letting pressure drop to <45psi will significantly increase likelihood of pinch punctures with tyres of this size. Most of these models are split rim and relatively easy work on, ensure heat is applied to rim bolts if they are tight to prevent stripping head of bolts.
