This cable has a round M8 5-pin female connector to connect to display and 6 fly-lead wires terminated with factory-crimped JST SM male connector pins for housing to connect to controller.
Length 1.4 meters end-to-end including connectors/pins.
Optional housing: Choose this option to have black JST SM 6-pin housing included the male pins. In most instances the existing housing is re-used.
Typically required as replacement when existing cable is damaged, which can present symptoms such as communications failure error, or powers off unexpectedly due to a short in the circuit.
Notes:
When connecting the 6 pins into the JST SM housing to connect to controller, note the colours do not adopt industry standard convention or that of of the controller, so intentionally they should not match 1:1. This note explains which colours are to align.
Image below from Kevin Sanders shows the colours across the pinouts on the JST receptacle from this display cable (left) and the matching colours on Zero 10 controller plug (right). It is observed that the colours chosen in this display cable (in all Zero's and VDM-10's) need be aligned / matched as shown below. The only pinout that has a colour match is the green (throttle):
The colours in this cable map to the following pinouts locations as you look at the face of the M8 female plug on this display cable, from top to bottom with notch at bottom:
Yellow
Black | Green
White
Red | Blue
Notch
Based on the relationship between the colours on the JST SM connector, the purpose of those M8 female pins would be:
-ve
Data(B) | Throttle
+ve
Data(Y) | PWR-ON
Notch
As such the male pins on the QS-S4 and similar display plug present as:
-ve
Throttle | Data(B)
+ve
PWR-ON | Data(Y)
