Thickness and round vs wave

It is well documented amongst the bicycle industry that wave style discs have preformation that improves cooling effect to reduce overheating compared to round design. The wave style has greater surface-area to mass/density ratio, allowing them to cool quicker. While round and/or thicker discs take longer to elevate temperature, they will also have greater heat retention capability, as thickness increases ability to hold heat, in other words they will take longer to cool down, they will not cool as effectively. Elevated disc temperature increases likelihood of glazing the pads (lazy brake), especially when organic resin semi-metal compound pads are used. This is a common issue with the Zoom calliper as the only types of pads that fit in that calliper need be sub 30mm wide pads, and the only pads on the market at that size are the organic resin semi-metal compound. Wider pads with more advanced compounds can be grinded down, such as the Shimano B01S/M315 / XOD all-metal, ceramic and polymetallic. These compounds are excellent candidates to uplift from the stock pad, just ensure you are mindful of the slightly different shape, it will sit slightly deeper (unless spaced) which is well documented on the Zoom Full Hydraulic pad page.
Thickness of rotor, shape/style of rotor, choice of pad compound, the shape of pad (pad placement / contact surface engagement on the rotor) and the use of regeneration braking (including calibration) are all key factors that can impact premature failure of calliper hydraulics, such as seals, intervals of fluid flush, brake performance and wear/longevity.
It is common to see "smoke" and "gas" from Zoom callipers on heavy braking in makes fitted with round discs, such as Kaabo Wolf Warrior X models. It is less common on makes that adopted wave style disc (e.g. Teverun and Dualtron), therefore assumed the findings from cycling apply to eScooters.
Kaabo adopts the 3mm round for strength / resilience, less support overhead, improves perception of reputation and are less likely to buckle under heat. You will typically find thicker rotors add very little additional strength, both are easy to straighten with a Turing Fork.
