VDM-10 Motor Rim Cover suit Dragon Raptor

• The VDM-10 Motor Rim Cover suit Dragon Raptor is the detachable split rim that suits the VDM-10 motor.
• Models that use this rim include Dragon Raptor (non-Pro & Pro variants), Apollo Ghost, Bolzzen Dynamo & Gladiator, Carbon Oxy & e-Glide Mach 10.
• Note there are two variants due to two generations of motors on the VDM-10 build. Identify the appropriate variant by measuring the depth of casting at split rim bolts, as shown with callipers in product image:
  • 10mm: This is the more common type on all but the very early VDM-10 builds. Also suitable replacement for 7.6mm versions.
    Has a larger internal clearance of 130.36mm.
  • 6.5mm: Less common, typically on older builds.
    Has smaller internal clearance of 129.72mm.

The variance of internal clearance between the two variants is 0.64mm. It has been observed that the 6.5mm depth rim cover has insufficient clearance to clear a motor hub designed for 7.6mm or 10mm rim cover. Likewise, you will likely find the 10mm rim cover will be too large in diameter to seat in motor hub designed for 6.5mm. The two types are not interoperable.

• Optional: six socket head M5 20mm rim screws (bolts) to secure the rim cover. Choice of:
  • Silver A2-70 (304) stainless steel screws (knurled head width of 8mm, DIN912 type), 700MPa strength, or
  • Black factory 12.9 carbon steel high tensile screws (plain head with width of 7mm), 1200MPa strength (as shown in product image).

Notes:

1. Typically required when original rim cover has physical damage from impact. Low tyre pressure and/or loose split rim screws can contribute to failure. When securing split rim screws, ensure even pressure is applied, apply thread locker and check screws are tight frequently until bedded in.
2. Supplied individually (and just the side relating to the cover, the other side of the rim is part of motor housing.
3. Will not suit the Zero 10X (T10-DDM) models - these have a different, heavier motor.
