VDM-10 Rim suit Dragon Raptor

• Rim for VDM-10 motor. This is the split rim (the cover, detachable part) without hub motor, typically required when only the existing rim cover is damaged.
• Models that use this rim include Dragon Raptor (non-Pro & Pro variants), Bolzzen (Dynamo/Gladiator 5218), Apollo Ghost, Carbon Oxy & e-Glide Mach 10 and other VDM-10 ODM's.
• Note there are two variants. Identify the appropriate variant by measuring the depth of casting at split rim bolts, as shown with callipers in 2nd product photo. Depth is either 6.5mm or 10mm,
  • 10mm is more common on all but the very early VDM-10 builds.
  • 10mm is also suitable replacement for 7.6mm versions.
  • Choosing the appropriate type is important as they have differing internal diameter (clearance) as shown with callipers in the 3rd and 4th product image:
    • 10mm variant has a larger internal clearance of 130.36mm.
    • 6.5mm variant has a smaller internal clearance of 129.72mm.

The variance of internal clearance between the two variants is 0.64mm. It has been observed that the 6.5mm depth rim cover has insufficient clearance to clear a motor hub designed for 7.6mm or 10mm rim cover. Likewise, you will likely find the 10mm rim cover will be too large in diameter to seat in motor hub designed for 6.5mm. They will not line up!

• Optional: six socket head M5 20mm rim screws (bolts) to secure the rim cover. Choice of:
  • Silver A2-70 (304) stainless steel screws (knurled head width of 8mm, DIN912 type), 700MPa strength, or
  • Black factory 12.9 carbon steel high tensile screws (plain head with width of 7mm), 1200MPa strength (as shown in product image).
  • Typically required when original rim has physical damage from impact (often associated with low tyre pressure), sheared / severely stripped rim cover screws (screws not tight, or attempt to loosen without heating thread locker), or inappropriate pressure applied when tightening.

Notes:

1. eScootNow also stocks the entire motor.
2. Supplied individually (and just the side relating to the cover, the other side of the rim is part of motor housing.
3. Will not suit the T10-DDM models (these have a different, heavier motor).
4. Pre-2022 Apollo ghost models had 800w nameplate marking on their motors, that motor can be renewed with the 1000w nameplate version.
5. Often in appropriately marketed as "1600 watts peak". At 52V on a 25a controller these would peak near 1300w, 1470w at 58.8v (which never happens).
