NUTT Cooling Enhanced Brake Pad

• "Cooling Enhanced" brake pads, commonly known as "heatsink finned" pads.
• Produced in three variants:
  • YD-01 is the common 2-piston pad which suits the NUTT A5-D calliper on makes/models such as:

• The NAMI Burn-e (non-2), which was 35Ah and some early 2 non-Max models.
  • For newer models with Logan callipers, where 2-piston (later 2 Non-Max models) use Shimano B01S/M315 pads) and where 4-piston models (2 Max 32/40Ah) use Logan 4-piston pads.
• MUKUTA 10+.
• Select T10-DDM and X11-DDM models such as Dragon Hunter X11, limited edition badged Zero 10X & 11X and selected VSETT 10+ & 11+, specifically the early model, non-Zoom editions. Other Zero hydraulic and newer VSETT models adopt Zoom pad. The Zero cable models and Dragon Hunter X10 adopt Crown pad.

XOD H-800/880 series callipers can also adopt this pad. These were Dragon branded on early Cyclone Pro models and factory-fitted with a non-finned pad. Newer Cyclone Pro models have a yellow calliper that uses a hook pad (TurboBrake HB427-H). XOD callipers also feature on Blade (GT) and Mercane (G3 Pro) models.

The NUTT cooling enhanced finned pad can be fitted as an uplift to non-finned pads in these callipers for improved temperature performance in demanding environments. These callipers will also accommodate a Crown pad, which is available in a wider range of compound variants.

• and the fork Y-2 calliper (ref tech guide).
• YD-02 is not a commonly adopted pad amongst most popular makes/models, other than Weped SS / SST badge in-house 4-piston calliper and non-NUTT models of FS. This pad is primarily purposed for Shimano bicycle callipers (see notes below).
• YD-03 which is NUTT's 4-piston system and identical to a Logan 4-piston pad but with heatsink. This pad suits callipers:
  • The NUTT Y-5 Calliper which is relatively new and uncommon, being NUTT's inaugural 4-piston product for eScooters. This calliper is presently not a factory stock inclusion on any popular make/models but occasionally fit as aftermarket, often supplied without finned pads by AliExpress sellers.
  • eScootNow TurboBrake HB427-4M 4-Piston Calliper as slightly narrower alternative to the factory stock "ears" all-metal pad.
• Supplied as a set (pair) two pads, one for each side with pin. Retaining spring included with YD-01 and YD-03.
• The compound adopted by NUTT is a mix of both Organic Resin and Ceramic, with Metal. Effectively a fusion of Organic Resin Semi-Metal pads and Ceramic pads. These pads have noticeably less ceramic content than typical Ceramic Pads resulting in good initial bite at cold temperatures and improved modulation over "pure" ceramic. Notes:

1. Finned pads are what the original NUTT calliper design anticipated, however some ODM's often factory fit non-finned pads to NUTT callipers, such as XOD equipped (early model) Dragon Cyclone Pro and NAMI Burn-e 2 non-Max. Non-finned reduce production cost and are shielded from external damage, hence a popular factory choice. If you prefer performance, you can uplift to the finned variant in NUTT callipers. Likewise, if you prefer a different compound of pad, you can fit alternative non-finned pads into NUTT callipers.
2. Typically the Crown Pad is used as an aftermarket non-finned alternative to YD-01 pads in NUTT A5-D callipers, available in range of compounds slightly less wide as the YD-01. You can also use Zoom pads, which are a little deeper and wider. The B01S/M315 pad is too wide to fit in NUTT A5-D calliper.
3. Although YD-03 is identical in shape and pad position to the non-finned Logan 4-piston pads, some callipers cannot accommodate the fins, such as:
   1. TurboBrake HB427-4S (also factory fitted on entry level 4-Piston Teverun models). Pad cannot sit deep enough, they fall short about 1.5mm due to fins protruding against the calliper housing. 3rd party finned pads (non-NUTT) will fit as they have less fins (see product image).
   2. Logan 4-piston calliper. The calliper requires pads to be inserted from beneath, insufficient room for fins.
   3. Zoom HB-876: This is a rebadged version of the Logan 4-piston, see note above.
   4. Zoom HB-890 compatibility: Unknown. This calliper was introduced subsequent to the HB-890. It is easily distinguished as having a terraced pattern on the face of the calliper. Introduced in Q3 2024 in collaboration with MUKUTA on the VSETT 10+ APEX as the first 4-piston in the VSETT.
4. FalconPEV and Zero USA suggest it is necessary to shave the outer side of the pad nearest to the wheel for clearance on certain Zero models.
5. It is understood there are copies / knock--offs in the market. They tend to have premature wear. Some adopt identical finned appearance and branding, others are visually different with heatsink design but are marketed with the same YD naming convention. As an example, this AliExpress seller has images of YD-01 shaped pads with YD-02 nameplate and visa versa. Pads without NUTT branding have been observed locally in our region in retail stores which have been found to have significantly less service life than genuine originals. eScootNow sources pads direct from the factory to ensure authenticity of product.
6. YD-02 suits Shimano bicycle brake series of XTR, Deore XT, SLX, Alfine. Models M9000/9020/987/985/8100/8000/785/7100/7000/675/666/6000/615 BR-S700, BR-RS785 & BR-R785. Same physical as J04C (metal), J02A/J03A (resin) and subsequent series such as J05A.
7. NUTT A5-D is a fork of the Y-2 calliper, Velectrix has published a tech guide and the factory also has a product manual.
8. Manufactured by Lanxi Jieke Sports Apparatus Manufacturing CO., LTD, the NUTT / JAK / FLAME brand owner.

NUTT A5-D 2-piston calliper with YD-01 finned pad vs one of the many non-finned rectangular pads that will also fit.

Image below demonstrates YD-01 is suitably narrow enough to fit in a Zoom 2-piston calliper, but will not seat as heatsink will not clear. While heatsink could be shaved back similar to that mentioned above by FalconPEV, the pad depth is insufficient (not tall enough- distance between hole and bottom of pad is inadequate).
