The CNC Machined Ball Bearing mechanism provides greater precision on the handle pivot providing a crisp response for avid riders on technical sections. The bearings at top and bottom of both shafts shown in image below make the handle feel lighter, reduces play and improves modulation. Sharp!
Supplied as a kit for both shafts on one lever.
Typically required in event the long bearing assembly has fallen out of the lever. That long assembly is retained by a grub screw on the handle and a screw on each end of the assembly. All three fasteners needs be secured sufficiently to prevent the assembly (the shaft) exiting the lever. Typically you apply enough pressure on all three fastening points so that they are tightened to an extent where there is some "snap resistance" when unscrewing. This will usually prevent the bearing working loose. Undertake periodical initial checks while bedding in, use thread locker if required.
Note:
Image below shows the CNC Ball Bearing lever on left. The lever on the right is a non-CNC bearing lever. You cannot retrofit bearings into non-CNC levers.
In the rare event the shorter bearing assembly needs renewal, fitting involves removing the longer bearing, backing off the finger knob grub screw, then the finger knob itself. If the threaded shaft also needs be renewed proceed to remove the spring locking washer and accompanying washer on the shaft near the piston.
