Electric Brake Hall Sensor Switch M6 & M8 suits Hydraulic Levers of TurboBrake, Zoom & Langfeite/Dragon (e.g. Predator/Hurricane)

• This electric brake hall sensor switch is available in M8 (8mm) or smaller M6 (6mm) electrical connector to suit hydraulic levers of:
  • Zoom such as those on Kaabo models of Mantis & Wolf, earlier model Dragon Lightning (including V2), Dragon Slayer.
  • TurboBrake, including those on eScooters such as
    • HB427-H and HB427-4M models of:
      • Teverun, including models of Blade and Fighter: M8.
      • Dragon / Langfeite earlier models of Lightning V2 & The Beast: M8.
      • Dragon / Langfeite select (intermediate) models of the Cyclone Pro, Lightning V2 & The Beast: M8. Very early models had XOD XD-H800 callipers which were non-hall mechanical type like newer Logan switch. Later models are M6..
      • M6 on for Dragon / Langfeite models of Predator and Hurricane: M6.

Most of the (non-NUTT) models of VSETT such as 10+ and Zero such as 10X hydraulic models can use any of these variants, the electrical wiring is hard-wired (without plug/connector) to the main line. Simply cut the M plug off the replacement switch and wire in (solder) to replace the existing.

• Available in choice of M8 (8mm - most common) or M6 (6mm) red 2-pin male connector, the later is common on later models of Dragon/Langfeite & InMotion:
  • M8:
    • 50mm cable - as Zoom Kaabo Factory Spare.
    • 150mm cable - as TurboBrake Spare.
    • 300mm cable - as Zoom / TurboBrake Spare.
  • M6:
    • 100mm cable (total length 160mm) - as TurboBrake Spare to suit select models of Dragon Langfeite models (Predator, Hurricane, later models of Cyclone, Lightning V2 & The Beast) and Inmotion (RS etc). This M6 connector (6mm) is slightly smaller than the M8.
• Mechanism uses magnetics with a two wire hall effect sensor, responsible for informing the controller of the position of the brake lever which activates electric braking and brake light. If problematic, electric brake and brake lights may not respond as expected when engaging brake lever, or the switch could be applying brake continuous or intermittently when lever is not engaged. To operate effectively, it needs be calibrated - see notes below. If calibration does not restore operation, and it fails continuity test on multimeter, replace the switch.

• Adopts the common convention used amongst nearly all eScooter makes and models being normally open. This means when lever is not engaged, the circuit is open ("off"). When engaged (pulled) the circuit closed (switch is "on"). Closer type.

Notes:

1. Switches needs be calibrated periodically as pads wear or brakes are serviced. Prior to adjusting or removing existing switch, ensure you backing off the grub screw that secures the connector.
2. The hall type switch uses magnetics therefore be mindful of the lever's proximity to other magnetic fields such as that from throttle. Close proximity of lever to throttle can cause unexpected signalling, usually unexpected brake switch activation. To correct this, increase distance / proximity of the throttle away from brake lever.
3. To troubleshoot, you can temporarily fit the switch from the other lever, check continuity with meter and check 5v is being delivered to it. Signal output of two wire IC's is via different current levels, a multimeter on continuity mode is usually sufficient test.
4. There is no polarity applicable so for hard-wire fitting it is a simple matter of joining each of the two wires and it is best practice to have some sort of plug so you can disconnect if necessary.
5. The M6 100mm variant (total length 160mm) is approximately 40mm longer than stock observed on Dragon/Langfeite models.
6. This switch appears similar to that on earlier (older) the Logan levers as both have a 6.2mm diameter. The notch/key on earlier Logan type is longer and narrower than this Zoom/TurboBrake type. The Logan variant is available here.

8. These videos demonstrate how to calibrate / replace a hall sensor switch, as a general guide to how these magnetic sensors work. While they are not Zoom/Turbobrake specific, the same concepts apply. eSN recommends to work only on one side, over the course of several rides so it has bedded in prior to making changes to the other side. eSN recommends having the ebrake switch engage first (early, but not too early else unexpected engagement can occur) then as the lever is further depressed the physical pads engage. Allowing the electric brake to fully engage prior to physical brake pad engagement improves braking stability, reduces brake wear and reduces heat.
